A suspect has been arrested in the killing of a Long Island man found violently injured along a quiet New York street, police announced on Wednesday, Nov. 19.
Christopher Millwater, 52, of Selden, was discovered in front of 21 Shore Road around 3:40 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 10, according to the updated release from Suffolk County Police. He was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police said their investigation led to the arrest of a 33-year-old Setauket woman, who has been charged with Murder 2nd Degree. She is being held overnight at the Fourth Precinct and is scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Thursday, Nov. 20. A criminal charge is an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
Family’s Calls For Justice
In the days after the homicide, Millwater’s sister, Corinne Millwater, pleaded publicly for help as the family grappled with the sudden loss.
“We have suffered a lot of loss over the past few years. This loss being the greatest,” she wrote on a fundraiser launched to help cover funeral costs. She urged supporters to share the page and “pray for our family that justice is served.”
Funeral services were held Sunday, Nov. 16, at Giove Funeral Home in Selden.
