LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - The person who allegedly brought an illegal substanc e onto Colonel Santos Benavides Elementary School is behind bars.

The United Independent School District confirmed that their police department concluded its investigation and presented the case to the District Attorney’s Office. A warrant was issued, and the suspect was arrested Nov. 19 without incident.

The individual arrested was a visitor attending a campus event, not a district employee.

“This was an open case, an open investigation. Law enforcement advised to refrain from releasing any information, especially when it’s a critical case to allow them to conclude their investigation,” said Brenda Medina Moreno with United Independent School District.
