MOORHEAD, MN - 38 years ago Moorhead won their first state championship in football. Today, the players on that team are still local legends. The hero from that game, their kicker Greg Reinhiller.
"I felt good that day," said Reinhiller.
"Glad you felt good that say, it was kind of important," said receiver Dan Altenbernd.
He drilled a 32 and a 25 yarder, giving them the 13-7 win. But the credit goes to the coaches.
"We had some mentors, Kostich, Coach Quenette, we had great athletes, but I don't think we could have done it without that coaching staff," said linebacker Pat Dew.
Fast forward to today with the Spuds throwing it all around the field to their top tier athletes, it's a little bit different than it was nearly 40 years ago.
