MACON, Ga. — Bibb leaders are a step closer to bringing a new arena to life.

At Tuesday's county commission meeting the board unanimously approved Barton Malow Builders LLC to help plan and eventually construct a new events arena, which will replace the Macon Coliseum.

Bibb leaders approved $675,000 of SPLOST funding for pre-construction services from the group Tuesday.

"So basically over the next several months we'll get some architectural drawings. We'll get some rough figures, sometime around January, and by the springtime we'll have the final numbers to bring before commission to vote on," Mayor Lester Miller said.
