LANSING, Mich. (WILX) -For many, the night before Thanksgiving is about reunion, but for police and first responders, it’s one of the most dangerous nights of the year.
Some people even call it “Blackout Wednesday,” blending crowded bars with heavy travel. And too often, families are left with an empty seat at the table.
“It gets really, really crazy, when they say it’s the biggest bar night of the year, that is absolutely the truth,” said Kaitlin Phelps with The Dirty Bird in Jackson.
Bar manager Kaitlin Phelps says if you plan to go out that night, the best defense against disaster is planning ahead before the night even starts.
