I t was late October and Mesa resident Judy Hall was busy in her kitchen assembling a gingerbread house– No. 106 and counting.
Hall embarked on her gingerbread baking fundraiser in July with the help of her mother, Janie Schmolke, who does a lot of the decorating.
“We’re going to have at least 120,” Hall said. “I get these ideas, and I want to put them into action. We have something for everyone, like there’s Winnie the Pooh, Minecraft, Scooby Doo and blue minions. And you can’t forget the Smurfs’ movie theater.”
The duo’s finished creations are placed in several areas of their home, all waiting for the big day when they’re unveiled for the third annual Encore at Eastmark Gingerbread Display, starting Saturday Nov. 22 and running to Dec. 6.
