The long and complicated process that developing can be in Santa Fe was mirrored in the City Council’s Wednesday meeting dedicated to voting on Phase 1 of the land use code update.
Councilors voted unanimously after three and a half hours to approve the long-awaited update, following a lengthy discussion about a proposal to clarify language stipulating developers paying a fee in lieu of building affordable housing units are not eligible for any type of density bonus. Councilors decided not to bring forward an amendment before going through another technical amendment section by section.
“Yes, for the love of God,” Councilor Pilar Faulkner said after voting to approve the final amendment.
