CHARLESTON — The West Virginia high school cheer season came to a head Wednesday inside the Charleston Coliseum, where the 2025 WVSSAC state cheer championship saw winners crowned across four classes of competition.

Locally, Wheeling Park, Wheeling Central and Brooke took to the stage throughout Wednesday’s competitions.

Brooke won the Class AAA championship, while Bridgeport finished as runners-up.

The Bruins’ championship squad was composed of Paisley Sadler, Ava Gatten, Candace DeVore, Lyla Van Horn, Ava Scherich, Marlee Ewusiak, Gianna Svokas, Raelin Stoll, Gabriella Hornick, Addison Scherich, Kayla Elson, Sophia Sacripanti, Karlee Hornick, Braya Mazeika, and Bryson Murray. Head coach is Michelle Scherich.

The Bruins reached states by winning the Class AAA Region 1 championship.
