CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - A few I-77 ramps were closed after a truck hauling live turkeys crashed in north Charlotte early Thursday morning.
The Exit 16B ramps from were closed because of the crash, which happened around 1 a.m.
Following the Nov. 20 crash, dozens of turkeys were seen wandering around after their cages came off the trailer. Not all of them survived. A yellow tractor-trailer cab was damaged, and paramedics said one person was seriously hurt.
It was not immediately clear where the turkeys were being carried from, nor where their destination was.
State transportation officials initially the Exit 16B ramp would reopen shortly after 7 a.m., but later backed that estimate up to after noon.
It was unclear how the crash happened.
