HARPSWELL, Maine — Land's End Gift Shop is urging the public to help identify two people caught on security cameras removing copper propane lines from the property early last week, an act the business says created a dangerous leak that lasted for hours.
The theft occurred around 1 a.m. on Nov. 12, when two individuals were seen on surveillance footage removing roughly 40 feet of copper propane line, the shop said in a social media post . The removal caused a significant propane leak that seeped into and around the shop for at least eight hours, the post stated.
Staff said the situation “could’ve led to a catastrophic” outcome had the leak ignited or gone unnoticed longer.
