A police officer has died in the line of duty after crashing on the A12.
He was responding to an emergency at around midday on Wednesday when collision happened on a stretch of road near Ingatestone.
He died at the scene, Essex Police said, adding it is not believed any other vehicle was involved.
The road was closed for a significant amount of time while specialist officers responded and investigated at the scene.
