After 45 years of keeping residents mobile, the Weyburn Care-A-Van Society is asking the community for help to keep the wheels turning.
The organization is looking to purchase a new bus to replace its aging vehicle, which is facing increasing maintenance issues.
"The bus we have is getting old, said Yvonne Jones, secretary of the Care-A-Van Society. “It needs a lot of repair. Soon, the lift on the bus is going to be totally worn out, and so we need to think about replacing the bus."
While Jones noted that Barber Motors has been helpful by providing discounted service on repairs, the need for a reliable new vehicle is becoming urgent. Jones said the group has secured nearly all the funding required but needs a little more revenue to finalize the purchase and continue the service.
