A missing man from Woodbridge was found dead inside his own car at a Fairfax County tow lot after the vehicle was unknowingly removed from a business park earlier this month, police said.
Officers launched a death investigation on Tuesday, Nov. 18, after being notified that the body was discovered days after it was towed from a local parking lot, according to the Prince William County Police Department.
Detectives learned the case began on Nov. 3 when a private tow company removed a vehicle from PS Business Park on PS Business Center Drive.
The car was later taken to another tow facility in Fairfax County.
Workers at that tow lot contacted police in Fairfax County on Tuesday after the body was found "in the back seat floorboard area," police said.
The deceased is believed to be the car’s owner, described as a 49-year-old man who was reported missing on Nov. 1.
“At the time of the missing person report, no foul play was suspected in the disappearance, and the individual was not considered endangered,” police said.
Prince William County detectives responded to the tow lot in Fairfax County and launched a death investigation.
Police said the man’s body was sent to the medical examiner to confirm his identity and determine the cause and manner of death.
No details about the man have been released.
