A joint operation by police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel has led to the busting of a narco-terror network in the Qalamabad region of Jammu and Kashmir’s Handwara, officials said.

Acting on a tip-off about the presence of drugs and weapons, security forces carried out a targeted raid and arrested two men—a father and son—identified as Shahnawaz Khan, 23, and his 53-year-old father, Abdul Lateef. Both are residents of Puthwari in Nowgam, Handwara.

Officials said the duo was deeply involved in running a drug-linked terror operation in the area, using the sale of narcotics to support extremist activities.

During the raid, the team recovered a pistol along with seven live bullets, as well as nearly 900 grams of a substance believed to be heroin.
