Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has received the draft of a new US-backed proposal to end Russia’s war in Ukraine that could see Kyiv give up the entire Donbas region and cut its armed forces by half, and is expected to hold talks with US President Donald Trump in the coming days, his office said on Thursday.

The matter first came to light when the Financial Times reported that the Trump administration and Russian officials drafted a peace proposal that could see Ukraine ceding eastern Donbas and cut its armed forces size by half, while also abandoning key categories of weaponry and reducing US military assistance.
