NEW ORLEANS — Daniel Callihan, already serving multiple life sentences in Louisiana and Mississippi for the murder and kidnapping of a Loranger mother and her 6-year-old daughter, was handed two additional consecutive life terms in federal court this week.
Callihan, 38, had previously pleaded guilty in state courts for the 2024 killing of 35-year-old Callie Brunett and her daughter, Jalie, as well as the kidnapping of Brunett’s surviving 3-year-old daughter, Erin. The federal sentencing marks the final chapter in a case that spanned multiple jurisdictions and prompted a massive manhunt.
