LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Police have identified a man they say brought drugs onto a Laredo elementary school campus.

27-year-old Christofer Moreno is behind bars after an illegal substance was found at Colonel Santos Benavides Elementary School . A student found the substance and notified an adult, who then notified authorities.

After an investigation, police presented their case to the District Attorney’s Office, which issued an arrest warrant.

Officials said the suspect is not involved with the district. “This was an open investigation. Law enforcement did advise to refrain from releasing any information, which is why we held back on that, we have to honor their request, especially when it’s a critical case, an open investigation to be able to allow them to conclude their investigation
