John Swinney has said that "lessons must be learnt" after the Covid inquiry found that the Scottish Government failed to conduct their own planning for the deadly virus that led to over 10,000 deaths in Scotland. ‌

The official inquiry report also ruled that Nicola Sturgeon claiming the virus could be eliminated was “inappropriate” and “destined to fail”. ‌

The findings are contained in the latest inquiry report by Baroness Hallett into the devastating pandemic that began in 2020 and led to a series of lockdowns. Many of the criticisms relate to all four governments, but the devolved administrations were also singled out. ‌
