MANJERI: In a tragic incident, a one-year-old boy died after being bitten by a snake while playing in front of his house. The child, Arjun, was the son of Sreejesh and Shobha of Kalleṅgal Unnathi, Pookkottur. The incident happened around 4 p.m. yesterday.

Seeing blood on the child’s leg, the family first took him to the Thrippanachi PHC and then to Manjeri Medical College Hospital, but his life could not be saved. Doctors suspected a snakebite, and a search in the yard later confirmed the presence of a cobra. He is survived by his siblings Anushree and Amritha.
