SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - A trial date has been set for a Port Charlotte man accused of carjacking and sexually assaulting a woman.
Jorge Daniel Martin will remain in the Sarasota County Jail after being denied bail. His trial is now scheduled to begin June 22, 2026.
On April 3, police arrested Martin, 26, on charges of false imprisonment, carjacking, and assault.
Charlotte County deputies say Jorge Daniel Martin sexually assaulting a women in Charlotte County after he had forced her to drive across the county line from North Port.
Detectives were called out to the RaceTrac gas station after being notified of a possible carjacking in North Port.
The North Port Police Department were also on scene, having tracked the car from that city.
