NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WFSB) - With Thanksgiving just one week away, New Haven is distributing more than 1,500 free turkeys to families in need as part of the city’s annual turkey giveaway at Edgewood Park.

The first-come, first-served event features both walk-up lines and drive-through pickup options. The city’s Youth and Recreation Department, along with partners like New Haven and Yale police, are providing the turkeys throughout the week.

“It’s amazing. Thank you guys for letting us have an opportunity to get some dinner on our table,” said Angie Roldan of New Haven.
