EUGENE, Ore. - Lane County schools can now sign up for the 2026 Electronics Recycling Competition.

According to Waste Wise Lane County, registration is open until Dec. 12 on their website.

The competition, running from Jan. 6 to April 24, 2026, is a collaboration between Lane County schools, NextStep Recycling, and Waste Wise Lane County. Schools that recycle the most e-waste can win grants up to $500, a NextStep Reuse Store gift certificate, and a special recognition award.

In 2025, a record 48 schools collected 41,491 pounds of e-waste.

“We hope to build on the success of the 2025 campaign,” said Jessica Ahrenholtz, Executive Director of NextStep Recycling. She encouraged students, parents, and school staff to inform principals about the competition.
