KILLEEN, Texas — A group of psychology students is organizing a donation drive to support children entering the foster care system in Bell County by partnering with a local nonprofit to provide essential items for families in need.

The effort benefits the Bell County Welfare Board, the organization that has helped 852 children in Bell County alone during the past fiscal year.

The Bell County Welfare Board operates three "Rainbow Rooms" throughout the county—two in Killeen and one in Temple. These rooms collect donations to provide essential items to children coming into the foster care system.

"Many children don't come in with anything besides the clothes that they're wearing," said Ashley Haisler, a graduate student studying mental health counseling.
