LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - The Laredo Police Department’s Special Victims Unit and U.S. Marshals conducted a three-day compliance operation targeting registered sex offenders across the city as the holiday season approaches.
The initiative, called “Operation: Safe Holiday,” resulted in compliance checks on 93 registered sex offenders, with four found to be non-compliant with their probation requirements.
“They went into homes to make sure they are in compliance with all the rules and regulations that sex offenders must follow,” said Joe Baeza of the Laredo Police Department.
While compliance checks are conducted weekly, police said Operation: Safe Holiday provided an additional layer of precaution during a time when more community activities and gatherings typically occur.
