Still, upon vacationing in the area over Christmas more than a decade ago, they were smitten , and eager to put down business stakes somewhere at the southern tip of the Baja California Peninsula where the desert meets the sea.
“We just rented a car and spent a few months driving everywhere and looking at all sorts of different possibilities,” said Watt, a 63-year-old hospitality veteran who owns bars and restaurants in Vancouver including The Keefer Bar, June and Giusti.
