Erin’s House for Grieving Children can now more adequately serve young adults up to age 26 after opening a new facility.
Officials cut the ribbon Thursday on The Wing, Erin’s House’s new 4,500-square-foot space for teens and young adults who are navigating grief. Erin’s House serves grieving young people dealing with loss with peer-to-peer programming that connects them with others dealing with the same experience.
Executive Director Debbie Meyer said Erin’s House can now better serve those 16 and older.
“I say unfortunately, we’ve grown out of the space,” she said. “The teens were saying, ‘We don’t want to hang around six-year-olds,’ and we wanted a cool place for the teens because as you can imagine that’s a really hard age.”
