KOKOMO, Ind. — A Kokomo man is behind bars after police say he allegedly led them on a chase in a stolen vehicle.
According to a release from Indiana State Police, just after 2 a.m. Nov. 19, a state police sergeant was patrolling the area of Main Street and Markland Avenue in Kokomo when he reportedly saw a 2003 Chevrolet Corvette without its headlights on.
The sergeant then reportedly attempted to pull the Corvette over, but instead the driver fled at a high rate of speed.
Police say the pursuit continued northbound on Main Street before turning onto Harrison Street , where the Corvette left the roadway and crashed into a brick wall.
The driver, identified as a 19-year-old Kokomo man, was then taken into custody without incident. Police say no injuries were reported in the crash
