TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - Some TJC educators are losing their positions by the end of the semester, with students and staff members voicing their concerns.

“Imagine making holiday plans knowing that you just lost your income and your health insurance,” said Michael Chastain, the spouse of a specialist who was let go.

Both spoke out at the TJC board meeting today following being notified that seven science lab specialist positions will be eliminated.

“Dr. Sheppard reached out to other community colleges and very consistently with the other community colleges, they have their professors teaching both the lecture and then instructing in the lab,” said Kim Lessner, the Vice President of Operations for TJC.
