Firefighters rushed to the site of an explosion inside a Midtown parking garage Thursday evening.
The explosion occurred around 9 p.m. on 53rd Street between Third and Lexington avenues.
Two individuals were injured. One person is in critical condition while a second person is in stable condition, NY1 was told by fire officials.
The FDNY says the explosion happened above a door with a duck cover, where a back puff of a generator led to the explosion.
The explosion sent the duck cover 30 feet across the street where pedestrians were walking by, according to officials.
The FDNY says it’s a possible diesel emergency generator explosion.
