The stunning apple orchards of Kashmir are well known. Kashmiri apples are well known throughout India for their flavor, hue, and quality. However growers have observed significant changes in their orchards in recent years, and the majority of these changes are related to climate change.

For optimal growth, apple trees require a lengthy, cold winter. We refer to this chilly time as chilling hours. But Kashmir’s winters have been becoming warmer, so the trees are not getting enough cold. Fruits do not grow uniformly, apple trees bloom erratically, and overall yield declines as a result.
