WICHITA, Kan.(KAKE) — Wichita Public Schools announced it will relocate students, staff, and several programs from Chester Lewis Alternative High School over winter break after structural issues were discovered in the building.
In an email to staff, Chief Operations Officer Dr. Steve Noble said, “Following the structural issues discovered over the past few years at both North and East High Schools, WPS began routine inspections of foundations at some of our oldest buildings. During one of these inspections, a building engineer discovered structural issues at Chester Lewis Alternative High School that require significant repairs.
