Ahead of the IPL mega auction last year, Punjab Kings decided to make wholesale changes to their squad. They retained just two players and entered the two-day auction in Jeddah with a massive purse of Rs 110.5 crore – the highest among the 10 teams. They spent big on Shreyas Iyer, Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal and reaped the rewards by reaching the IPL 2025 final where they lost to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in a close clash.

The franchise has come a long way, leaving behind years of struggles and it reflected in the number of players they’ve released before the IPL mini auction slated to be held next month.
