SHENANDOAH, Texas (KBTX) - The top-ranked Franklin Lions outlasted the Orangefield Bobcats in an offensive showcase, 56-34, in the Area Round of the UIL high school football playoffs.
Why did Franklin win? The Lions’ defense played more consistently than their Bobcat counterparts. After jumping out to an early lead, Franklin was able to stay in its run-heavy Slot-T offensive scheme to drain the clock.
Standout performance: Quarterback Walker Anderson picked up plenty of yards with his legs, but also made crucial throws when called upon. The senior also contributed defensively as a linebacker.
What’s next? Franklin will face the winner of No. 3 Columbus and Palestine Westwood in the 3A DI Region III Semifinal next week.
