By 10:30 a.m., the Sensex was down 390.62 points (0.46%) at 85,242.06, while the Nifty50 fell 124.30 points (0.47%) to 26,067.85.
Hindalco Industries, Tata Steel, and Adani Ports were among the top drags, losing up to 2%. In contrast, Mahindra & Mahindra and Eicher Motors led the gainers, rising nearly 1% each.
Market breadth was firmly negative, with 1,043 stocks advancing, 2,377 declining, and 148 remaining unchanged.
