Kolkata, November 21, 2025: Mild tremors were felt across Kolkata and several parts of eastern India on Friday morning after a 5.7-magnitude earthquake struck Bangladesh. According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the quake occurred at 10:08 am (IST) with its epicentre located 10 km east-southeast of Dhaka.
Residents across Kolkata and nearby districts reported feeling light shaking, with ceiling fans, lights, and wall hangings seen swaying for a few seconds. Many people stepped out of homes, housing complexes, and office buildings as a precaution. Social media was flooded with visuals capturing the moment tremors were felt, including clips of swinging fixtures and crowds gathering outdoors.
