The Devils might get the best Christmas gift of all this year: Jack Hughes back in the lineup.

On Thursday’s edition of ESPN’s “The Point,” NHL insider Emily Kaplan revealed that Hughes might return from his “freak” injury as early as late December. Granted, Kaplan said this was the “best case scenario,” but it’s still positive that it’s even a possibillity.

“The good news is: This is not as bad as initially feared,” Kaplan said, via ESPN’s The Point. “Best case scenario we can see him back as early as Christmas, more likely it’s early January. The expectation, I have been told, is he still will be named to Team USA’s Olympic team.”
