Mitchell Starc has recorded a career-best seven-wicket haul on the opening day of the Ashes as England's aggressive approach with the bat backfired spectacularly.
Much was expected of the vastly-experienced Starc in the absence of Australian captain Pat Cummins and Starc's usual new ball partner, Josh Hazlewood, and the 35-year-old answered the call to brilliant effect.
Last time England toured Australia for the Ashes, Starc began the series by bowling opener Rory Burns with his very first delivery.
While he was not able to repeat the feat this time around, Starc still removed an England opener in his first over as Zak Crawley nicked a delivery to Usman Khawaja at first slip six balls into the innings. Loading Twitter content
