Motorists could save on petrol and diesel fuel costs by filling up their car in colder temperatures on Friday night. Experts at motoring specialists, National Scrap Car, have explained filling up cars in colder weather late at night could help road users “save pennies” off their fuel bill.
According to experts, colder weather tends to make the fuel denser, meaning motorists will receive slightly more petrol or diesel in their fuel tank for the same amount of money. Friday is set to be the last day of the UK’s current cold spell, which has seen temperatures dip well below freezing. Readings dipped as low as -11.7C last night in Scotland, with parts of Wales hitting -7C.
