Police are one step closer to solving a South Australian murder mystery after finding a car suspected to be connected to the brutal case.

Father-of-two Chris Robertson was found dead at a workshop in the industrial Adelaide suburb of Lonsdale on Tuesday, September 30.

The 49-year-old was last seen alive days earlier at a celebration with friends for the AFL grand final on Saturday, September 27.

Today SA Police found a grey Mitsubishi Triton concealed at a large property in Cherry Gardens in the Adelaide Hills.

Detectives previously released vision of the Triton as it entered the warehouse on September 28.

They suspect the ute was used to take Robertson there, where he was beaten to death.
