For many Brits, ketchup is a staple - but it also happens to be the source of a long-running dispute. Once the bottle is opened, does it belong in the cupboard or the fridge? The debate is still ongoing with loyalists firmly planted on both sides. Now, an expert may have finally ended the back-and-forth.
In a video, consumer advocacy group Which? reveals the proper place to store your ketchup and explains the reasoning behind it. In the video, an expert explains: "You can keep it [in the fridge] if you want. After all, it even says 'refrigerate once opened' on the bottle. But tomatoes are naturally acidic, and the sauce contains vinegar, which helps preserve it in ambient conditions. So
