CORTLAND The city of Cortland has secured $4.5 million in federal funding to advance the construction of its new Safety Service Complex, which is planned to update facilities for police and fire services.
The funding, obtained through the fiscal year 2026 budget with support from U.S. Congressman Dave Joyce, will help build a centralized complex intended to house the fire department, police department, and city administrative offices. The facility is planned for a location on North High Street near the current city hall.
The new facility is intended to replace the city’s current buildings, which officials say were built in the 1980s and are now inadequate for modern emergency response, according to Mayor Dierdre Petrosky.
