Make no mistake — Chicago has not been the Steelers’ kind of town.
They have been going to the Windy City since 1934 and have been blown away by the Chicago Bears nearly every time. Al Capone didn’t rule the city the way the Bears ruled the Steelers for 10 decades. The only thing devoured in Chicago more often than the Steelers was deep-dish pizza.
They go back there again Sunday to face the NFC North-leading Bears (7-3) with a historical perspective that has not been very kind. The Steelers are 1-12 lifetime in Chicago, with their most recent defeat in Soldier Field coming eight years ago — a moment remembered more for what happened before the game than during.
Joe Greene, Terry Bradshaw, Franco Harris, Lynn Swann and all the other Hall of Famers from the 1970s never won in Chicago.
