Customers have been urged to return a number sliced deli meats over “severe illness” fears.
A recall alert from Food Standards Australia New Zealand warned customers who had bought 1kg packages of Gotzinger Smallgoods brand sliced silverside, roast beef, 4x4 sandwich ham, champagne ham and provincial ham.
Food Standards warns the products “may have been available for sale in retail outlets and butcher shops in NSW and QLD”.
Food Standards issued the alert over concerns the meats had been contaminated by listeria monocytogenes, which causes a listeria infection.
“Listeria monocytogenes may cause severe illness in pregnant women, unborn babies, neonates, the elderly and immunocompromised individuals,” Food Standards said.
