Two board members from Birmingham’s regional water works are suing their board colleagues to stop the actions of the newly hired new CEO.
Meanwhile, CEO Jeffrey Thompson, a few hours on the job, delivered a major shakeup that included placing all senior managers on paid administrative leave.
Employees placed on paid administrative leave include Mac Underwood, the general manager who until Thursday had led the daily operations at the utility.
In their lawsuit Thursday afternoon, two board members, Jefferson County Commissioner Sheila Tyson and Jarvis Patton of Birmingham are asking a Jefferson County Circuit judge for a temporary restraining order to block Thompson’s hiring.
