The former leader of Reform UK in Wales has been jailed for 10-and-a-half years after he was paid to make pro-Russian statements in the European Parliament.
Nathan Gill, 52, of Anglesey, North Wales , used codewords such as "promised x-mas gifts" and "postcards" in an attempt to cover up his bribes. His crimes were uncovered after he was arrested at Manchester Airport in 2021, and he pleaded guilty to eight counts of bribery in September 2025, covering dates between December 6, 2018, and July 18, 2019.
Sentencing him today (Friday), Mrs Justice Cheema-Grubb said the harm he caused was "profound". She said he "fundamentally compromised" the integrity of a legislative body for "substantial" financial gain.
