SWAIN COUNTY, N.C. (FOX Carolina) - A 911 call sheds light on a bizarre incident that occurred Wednesday in western North Carolina.

A driver called 911 shortly after 8:15 a.m. from U.S. 74 to report that a bald eagle had dropped a cat onto her car, shattering her windshield.

The woman was uninjured, but the cat did not survive.

FOX Carolina News obtained a copy of the audio from Swain County 911 through the Freedom of Information Act.

“You may not believe me,” the woman tells the dispatcher, “But I just had a bald eagle drop a cat through my windshield. And it absolutely shattered my windshield.”

“I do believe you, honestly,” the dispatcher replied.
