MARYVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Following a Nov. 18 meeting, there have been more shake ups for leadership of the Blount County Fire Protection District.

Firefighters with the district said Friday morning that Gerald Kirby and Tom Daffron had resigned as commission president and a commissioner on the district’s board, respectively.

“While we remain grateful for recent support from the County Commission, new developments regarding the District’s Board of Commissioners have raised urgent questions regarding transparency and governance,” Captain Kermit Easterling, who is acting as a representative for Blount County firefighters, said in a news release.
