GATLINBURG, Tenn. (WVLT) - A bear in Gatlinburg had an eventful morning Friday, a city representative has confirmed to WVLT.
The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency responded to Ripley’s Motion Blaster to find a bear on the building’s roof, the city said.
According to the city, Gatlinburg police and the city’s street department helped get the bear down and tranquilized for release.
“Early this morning, between midnight and 2 a.m., the Gatlinburg Police Department received reports of a black bear stranded on the roof of a commercial building in Gatlinburg,” a representative for TWRA said.
Around 11:30 a.m., TWRA said, officers with national park staff tranquilized the bear and removed it with a bucket truck from the city.
