OTTAWA COUNTY, MI -- A man asked for water at an Olive Township home’s back door before slashing the homeowner and fatally wounding the family dog.
Details of the Nov. 18 attack at a home in the 11800 block of New Holland Street are contained in court documents obtained by MLive.
“Paul (homeowner) described seeing a male at his back slider door and when he made contact with him, he asked for water and then forced his way into the residence by slashing at Paul with an unknown sharp object,” an Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputy told a judge to get charges authorized.
The documents show the homeowner, who uses oxygen, attempted to retreat and arm himself but was hampered by the oxygen attachment.
