Train passengers planning to travel in December face significant disruptions due to a new wave of strikes. The National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) has announced strike action affecting CrossCountry services on four key dates next month.

The strikes are scheduled for Saturday 6 December, Saturday 13 December, Saturday 20 December, and Saturday 27 December. The RMT claims that CrossCountry has failed to address ongoing issues related to pay, staffing, and previously agreed commitments.

Eddie Dempsey, the RMT general secretary, stated, "CrossCountry has not dealt with the core issues in this dispute and has come back with a proposal that is worse than what was already on the table." He added, "Our members are still facing unresolved staffing shortages, unfair pay outcomes and broken commitments. RMT members have been left with no choice but to take strike action. The company must return with a serious offer that meets the commitments it has already made and treats our members with the fairness and respect they deserve."

As the strike dates approach, passengers are advised to check for updates on service availability and plan their journeys accordingly. The RMT's decision reflects ongoing tensions in the rail industry, highlighting the challenges faced by workers and the impact on travel during the busy festive season.
